Journalism & National Newspaper editorial, printing and circulation
It was a privilege to be consulting to this historic, and the first Spanish newspaper in Latin America, delivering a nine-month Performance Improvement Programme included full organisational restructuring to achieve annualised financial benefits of US $1.6M.
Tailored training for managers and supervisors brought in productivity measures which significantly improved planning and utilisation of the company’s human resources and machinery, along with reducing unnecessary use of materials and consumables.
Cost-saving improvements included reductions in paper, ink and film consumption and wastage, and smarter working practices resulted in better circulation and distribution of the daily and weekend newspapers.
Similar programmes were successfully rolled out to the groups other newspapers in Santiago, Chile which led to interest from other Latin American newspaper owners. A full business analysis was provided for a tabloid newspaper in Paraguay, providing the owner with the benefit of the experience and expertise gained from previous programmes.
